EMS Strategy Basics
Plant EMS schedules storage and PV assets against tariffs, load, and grid constraints. This guide explains the core concepts.
Core Concepts
- TOU scheduling: charge storage during low-price windows and discharge during peak windows
- Demand control: cap the metered power below a configured threshold to reduce demand charges
- Backup reserve: keep a minimum state of charge reserved for outage scenarios
Strategy Workflow
- Import tariff tables and confirm billing periods
- Define controllable assets and their operating limits
- Select a strategy template and set parameters such as peak windows and demand caps
- Enable simulation first, review the forecast, then deploy to execution
- Track performance on the strategy analytics page
Safety Interlocks
Strategies never override device-level protections such as BMS limits, PCS ratings, or grid connection requirements. When a conflict occurs, EMS falls back to the safe operating envelope.
